At the Edmonton Volleyball Center, our goal is to grow a love for volleyball in each person that walks through our doors. With this goal as the center of everything, we are proud to introduce our new Youth Development Program occurring through three sessions throughout the year.
The goal of our youth development programs is to provide an opportunity for athletes to develop fundamental skills, sportsmanship and to experience team play opportunities in a positive recreational environment. All levels of skill and experience are welcome in our youth development programs.
During the first week of the programs all athletes will be coached as large groups, according to their age category. Each athlete will then be assigned to a team, and given a coach. Teams will be divided as evenly as possible given the ages and skill levels involved. Should an athlete attend with a friend please advise the coaching staff and arrangements will attempt to be made to place them on the same team.
After the first week each athlete will have the same coach throughout the season of play. This will allow the coach to build relationships and monitor the development of each player. Teams will be given one practice during the week and one practice on Sunday. Scrimmage days will be planned throughout accordingly on certain Sundays throughout the season of play.
During the season of play, one tournament day will be arranged (on either a Saturday and a Sunday). On the weekends the athletes have a tournament there will not be a practice on Sunday. Should the registered number of Athletes not allow for a tournament, team scrimmages will be arranged.
Fall season tournament day - November 20 or 21
Winter season tournament day - March 19 or 20
Spring season tournament day - June 25 or 26
Those entering Age Category "Born 2014-2016" will practice once per week and will not have tournament days. This age category will focus on fundamental movement patterns, volleyball skills and fostering a love of sport in each participant.
2007-2008 Youth Development
All camp cancellations and refund requests made prior to one month from start date will be subject to an administration fee of 25% of the overall camp total, plus a 2% payment processing fee.
There will be no refunds for any Youth Development Programs within one month of program start date. Partial refunds may be considered in extenuating circumstances.
The Covid-19 pandemic could foreseeably force the shutdown of The Center’s Youth Development Programs due to government order. In the case of EVPC having to shut down this program before it has yet to start, EVPC will provide a program“credit” in equal value for a future EVPC Camp or program.
In the event that the Youth Development Program has already started, EVPC will have already incurred costs including coaching fees, rental costs, equipment fees, which cannot be recouped, therefore, participants will not be entitled to a refund, however, EVPC will work to provide customers a prorated credit for future use to a camp or program where possible.
